Golden Cross Sunday Bulletin InsertDear Tennessee Conference Pastors and Congregations,

Together we are continuing to face an unprecedented situation. The global coronavirus pandemic is affecting us all — our families, our churches, our communities, and our way of life.

Yet the Golden Cross Foundation, with the aid of all things electronic, continues its mission of funding Tennessee Conference ministries and projects benefiting and serving older adults such as:

  • feeding ministries
  • housing ministries
  • transportation ministries
  • equipping and retrofitting church facilities to increase accessibility and use
  • medical and health services, including counseling

The Golden Cross Foundation receives no apportionments from Tennessee Conference churches. Instead, we are funded by private donations and endowments. We also depend upon your church’s Golden Cross Sunday special offering.

Traditionally, this offering is taken on Mother’s Day Sunday. However due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Golden Cross Sunday will be officially observed on September 13, 2020. This is known secularly as Grandparents Day. What better way to honor these special people than by supporting the Golden Cross Sunday offering?

If your congregation is still planning on taking the offering on Mother’s Day Sunday then please do so. Or, if another way — such as a Communion offering — is your choice, that’s fine too.

Whenever you choose to observe Golden Cross Sunday, we thank you. We also give thanks for your generous support in the past.

Please send your Golden Cross Sunday offering to the conference treasurer. For more information, visit www.goldencrossfoundation.org. A bulletin insert template promoting Golden Cross Sunday is now available.

Sincerely,

Charles Hewgley
