Lifelong Tennessee: A Multisector Plan for Aging Well

Lifelong Tennessee: A Multisector Plan for Aging Well is a multi-year plan led by the Tennessee Department of Disability and Aging. This plan aims to ensure that every Tennessean can age with dignity, purpose, and support, through prioritizing common concerns and widespread issues facing residents as they age.

ENCORE Ministry Foundation is providing input into the plan by Dr. Richard Gentzler, Director of Older Adult Ministry, serving on the state Steering Committee with more than a dozen other key leaders in aging services throughout the state. The purpose of the Steering Committee is to provide strategic direction diverse expertise, and statewide representation in the development, adoption, and implementation of Lifelong Tennessee.

The Steering Committee exists to ensure the plan addresses the diverse needs and priorities of older Tennesseans, while acknowledging the vital roles of caregivers and support networks in their communities. Through meaningful collaboration and inconclusive public engagement, the Steering Committee will guide the creation of a roadmap that promotes aging with health, dignity, independence, and connection for all Tennesseans.

The Steering Committee will be meeting regularly to provide visionary leadership, cross-sector expertise, and strategic oversight in the creation of Lifelong Tennessee, ensuring the multisector plan is inclusive, data-driven, person-centered, and actionable, ultimately fostering successful aging independence, and social engagement for older Tennesseans.
