Graceful Giving Leads to Grace-filled Living

A grace-filled life is one where every person is valued, every need is met, and no one is forgotten. Through your generous support, Golden Cross Senior Ministries (GCSM) and ENCORE Ministry Foundation (EMF) help ensure that older adults in the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference have the dignity, care, and community we all deserve.

How graceful giving has led to grace-filled living:

Russell, a resident at a Memphis-based Wesley Living Senior Community reflected on his life-changing support from GCSM:

One morning, I'm sleeping on an air mattress that's losing air. The very next day, people came with a truckload of furniture and set it up for me.

Eileen Puckett remembers the day she received the news that her home, destroyed in the 2023 flood in Waverly, Tennessee, was going to be rebuilt thanks in part to a grant from ENCORE Ministry Foundation — at no cost to her:

After a month in a hotel and an efficiency apartment, Appalachia Service Project staff came along and gave me peace of mind. That day, a lady told me they were going to build a house for me. I was beyond blessed.

Grant support from ENCORE Ministry Foundation funded tiny homes at The Village of Glencliff, located on the campus of Glencliff United Methodist Church in Nashville.

Pastor Ingrid McIntyre said, “The support that ENCORE Ministry has given The Village at Glencliff has meant a lot. It built two of our micro homes…where older adults  experiencing homelessness are able to not just be discharged from the hospital onto a park bench or under the bridge, but they can come here and have a home. This saves lives.”

Both ministries provide life-changing and life-saving help and resources for our conference’s older adults — a population that often finds grace-filling living hard to come by.

“Places like Golden Cross Senior Ministries are needed in this community because there are a lot of hurting people out here — people that don’t think anybody cares” said Russell, a Wesley Living Senior Community resident.

Be the Hands and Feet of Jesus: Support Feeding Ministries
Be the Hands and Feet of Jesus: Support Feeding Ministries

The ENCORE Ministry Foundation provided a grant to First United Methodist in Columbia, Tennessee, to help fund their feeding ministry, the People’s Table. Since 2004, the People’s Table ministry serves meals to neighbors in need every Tuesday evening and Friday afternoon, providing nourishment, love, and hope to the homeless, elderly, families, and individuals struggling to make ends meet. However, the need in the community is growing. With the closure of a local battery plant and reductions in SNAP benefits, more families are facing food insecurity.

Together, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus, feeding the hungry, caring for the vulnerable, and showing love to those who need it most. Every dollar you give to the Kent and Ellen McNish Fund for Older Adult Food Security helps feeding ministries stretch resources and serve more meals to those in need. Donate today and help support life-changing feeding ministries like the People’s Table.
