According to the U.S. Department of Justice, at least 10% of older adults 65+ will experience elder abuse in a single year. Every state has different reporting guidelines regarding elder abuse, but Tennessee is a mandatory reporting state. If you see abuse, or even suspect that an older adult is being abused, neglected or exploited, you must report it. Call Adult Protective Services at 888-277-8366 or report securely online at https://reportadultabuse.dhs.tn.gov/.

If you or someone you know is in a life-threatening situation or immediate danger, call 911 or local law enforcement.
