A $25,000 matching challenge grant to the Golden Cross Foundation (now known as ENCORE Ministry) in 2021, resulted in almost $77,000 for a ministry that serves older adults in the new Tennessee-Western Kentucky (TWK) Conference of The United Methodist Church.

Nashville’s Connection United Methodist Church received a $2,004 grant to help fund an elevator door restrictor that improves church safety and accessibility.

Nashville’s Crievewood United Methodist Church received a $5,000 grant to help purchase equipment needed to improve online and in-person worship services. Pre-pandemic, Crievewood did not have an online worship service. When COVID shut down in-person gatherings in early 2020, church members scrambled to find a solution.

Dec. 2021 — Three of the 2021 SAGE Awards recipients — Ernie Bacon and Dr. James & Mrs. Phyllis Hildreth — are active United Methodists in the Tennessee Conference. In April FEMA began disbursing $2 billion — $9,000 per funeral — in funeral reimbursement. The money also covers cremation without other services. If the family incurs cemetery or memorial-related costs, FEMA’s funeral assistance will not fully cover those.

This year, Grandparents Day, a day honoring grandparents, will be observed on Sunday, September 12. Grandparents often lavish their grandchildren with love, hugs, and gifts. On Grandparents Day the favor is returned as grandparents receive gratitude for their wisdom, kindness, and nurturing.

Glencliff United Methodist Church members and staff, local leaders, neighbors, and The Village at Glencliff (TVG) board members gathered July 19 for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of 12 micro homes — Phase 1 — on the church’s campus.
